I am a Mexican interdisciplinary artist currently living and working between Chicago and Mexico City.
Drawn to the process and labor production, I started experimenting with mixed media, such as textiles, sculpture, and photography, which have allowed me to explore the body in relation to emotional/physical labor as well as relationships, community and space making. Specifically, I focus on how the process of artistic production, such as sculpting with clay and intertwining textiles, can allow us to confront the lack of emotional education, which has prevented us from understanding the intricacies of our reactions and interactions with our surroundings.
I got a BFA at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, majoring in Fine Arts-New Studio Practice. As I keep working to expand my own practice, I try to nurture and explore the social power of art by teaching, alongside bringing art approaches to social projects in local communities.
